My reasons I procrastinate:
1. Faulty assumptions
A lot of times I assume something will be a lot simpler and/or less time-consuming than it really is, and then I get overwhelmed, frustrated, or stressed when it turns out I managed my time or expectations incorrectly. Or I don't really know how to go about starting it, so I avoid it.
2. Being overextended
Yes. I'm doing all these things that I want to do, but just the fact that it is so much makes it difficult sometimes. It would be nice to be able to take an evening off without getting behind.
3. Avoidance of negative experience
With with stuff that I see as chores, or I don't really feel a personal connection to, forcing myself to start the task is sometimes difficult. The worst is when they are routine things that I can dread in advance (like my Calc homework). But as long as I can get started, and I'm in a work environment where I can get some momentum going and won't get interrupted constantly, I do okay most of the time. Like the reading says, try to do it it first and get it out of the way.
