So I mainly spent this week getting my head back in the game, making to do lists, and trying to anticipate what questions my new team might have. I think the we need to do a better job of keeping up with things over break … we all probably slacked a little. I know it’s break, but it would make these first few weeks a lot easier if we started ahead of schedule rather than behind.
I think the first day of class went very well. I can’t believe how packed the room is! It’s crazy. We are lucky to have such a large staff. I couldn’t help but remember how I felt when I first came on board … AKA completely lost. Which is how much of the new staff is probably feeling. I remember going to Directors’ meetings and being like “What the hell is everybody talking about?” But I also remember that by listening and asking questions where I needed to, reading the manual, etc. I was able to pick up everything pretty quickly. And I’m sure that our new people will catch on just as fast. But I have to try to remember to explain things a little more thoroughly. I want my team (and everyone else) to be completely comfortable asking me about anything going on that they don’t totally understand.
It’s also great to have a little more pep and energy during class time, even though we met for about five hours this week. I want to keep up the good vibes, d00d.
